Project: Proposed ST. MAXIMILIAN Education Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
November 2007

Conventual Franciscan Friars have been involved in pastoral and social activities of the Archdioceses of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania since 1998. With the passing of the time taking into consideration rapidly developing city of Dar es Salaam and ever increasing population, the initiate has been taken to establish parish and outstation in order to provide pastoral care for the faithful. At the same time taking into consideration need of assisting society with care taken of the children, St. Anthony of Padua Kindergarten has been build with the contribution of the local Christian community and help of the Caritas Antoniana. At present there is a great need to accompany those children even with primary and secondary education. There is a great need on the national level and especially in such big cities and Dar es Salaam to provide increasing number of children and youth with education.

Conventual Franciscan Friars decided to collaborate with one of the family which offers adequate portion of land in the city for the purpose of the school. Proposed project of establishment of St. Maximilian Education Center has as a purpose not only to provide education but most of all to provide quality education which is often missing in many schools. St. Maximilian Education Center is to help even to those who can achieve good results but do not have necessary financial support. St. Maximilian Education Center, after the initial support in the construction and equipping the school, will be able to achieve financial self-reliance.

St. Maximilian Education Center would provide with pre-primary, primary, and secondary education. The whole projects consist of two Class Room Blocks and Dinning Hall. Each block consists of 17 classrooms so in total 34 classrooms.

We will start to take pupils by stages each year one class (two streams) 40 pupils per class.

Our construction will take place in stages: the first class block will be constructed first which can serve for sometimes with yearly increase of pupils.

We will start form January 2008 teach the first primary school class in a temporally accommodated building. For this year most of the pupils will come from the St. Anthony of Padua Kindergarten and the rest from outside. Our project comes in aid also the mentioned Kindergarten because most of the parent want their children to continue in one place from the beginning to the end of primary education

We request to help us in the construction of the first class block of St. Maximilian Primary and Secondary School.

TOTAL COST: 244,169,150 Tshs (153,180 Euro)
Cost per classroom: 12,851,007 Tshs (8062 Euro )

We will be grateful for assisting us in building class block or at least in some classrooms. Any donation can be send on fallowing account:

Missionary Prayer

Father of all, you sent your Son to carry out your mission of redeeming the world. Let the light of your Gospel of love so shine in the world that it may be transformed into a worthy home for all your children of every race and country. Bless all missionaries throughout the world that their work may bear fruit. Together with them, may we too share in the missionary work of the whole Church that your Kingdom of justice, love and peace may come in all hearts and in all nations. We make our prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
